Selected Family Interventions (SFI)

Selected Family Interventions (SFI) is a collaborative effort between Big Bend Community Based Care, DISC Village, and FIU that offers in-home family and individual counseling services for those involved in the child welfare system and have experienced or have been affected by trauma. The SFI model incorporates a standard framework of core interventions for all high risk families that provides assistance with issues related to substance use, mental health, delinquency, and/or dependency. The vast assortment of research based interventions offered through SFI can be flexibly packaged and customized to meet the unique needs of youth and their families.

In an effort to increase a youth’s stability and safety in their homes, SFI counselors work collaboratively with Child Protective Investigators (CPI) and Dependency Case Managers (DCM) to engage caregivers and increase their ability to care for the family.
