Independent Living Specialist

Child Welfare program seeking individual with a bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, mental health, or related field. Must attain a passing score on the basic skills Introduction to Child Protection Written Assessment. (Note: Applicants who have not completed training and passed the written assessment will be considered for appointment in agency training status. Successful completion of the field-based performance assessment is required during the probationary period.) One year experience in foster care/protective services is preferred.

Individual must be Certified by the Florida Certification Board (FCB); or an individual who has direct personal experience living in recovery from substance use conditions for at least 2 years with a minimum of one (1) year work experience as a peer recovery specialist. Recovery Peer Specialists are allowed one year from the date of their employment to obtain certification through the Florida Certification Board. Individual must Possession of a valid Florida motor vehicle operator’s license and willingness to use personal vehicle in the course of employment is also required. Employee must provide a copy of current proof of car insurance for personnel file.

Provide 24/7 assistance, guidance for recovery support, and conflict management to clients in the FIT Program. Provide support by utilizing existing networks and coalitions within the community in order to enhance communication and increase collaboration in service planning and delivery. Any and all other duties assigned and deemed appropriate and necessary for the benefit of the Program and/or the agency.
