In-Home Counselor - FIT

The Family Intensive Treatment (FIT) Counselor will provide in-home counseling to families in the child welfare system requiring substance abuse services. The incumbent must have knowledge of, and be able to apply, recovery-based principles and practices in service delivery that includes addressing and documenting the client's strengths, needs and abilities. A minimum of a Master's degree or Doctoral degree in behavioral or health science or related field such as mental health counseling, social work, art therapy, psychology, or marriage and family therapy; and a minimum of two years of experience counseling working with adults and/or families with substance use disorders is required. Prefer experience working with dual diagnosed clients or must be willing to develop co-occurring therapy skills.

Salary: $16.35 - $17.79 per hour

Youth Services is seeking a full-time counselor to provide behavioral and mental health services to youth ages 11-18 in the Leon County area. Services provided will meet the individual needs of the client and address areas including depression, anxiety, self-harming behaviors, trauma and coping skills. This counseling position will provide assessment, treatment planning, individual and family counseling sessions in the school and community settings. This role requires personal experience with substance use disorders, either as a person in recovery or the close family member of someone with a substance use issue. You will be required to obtain certification as a Peer Support Specialist within the first year of employment.

A minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent is required. Prior experience with child welfare, family services and community resource research is preferred. Preference will be given to individuals who are certified as a Peer Support Recovery Specialist.
