Youthbuild

Youthbuild is a dual service program that provides hands-on vocational training in the construction trade for Greenville Hills Academy youth and has increased the number of affordable homes in the Madison County area.

The houses are available to low income families on a first come, first serve basis.  Participating youth must be at least 16 years of age to participate in the construction of the houses.  Program services include GED preparation, vocational certification, job placement, career planning, counseling and follow up.

The recommended duration of participation in the program is nine months.  Youth begin program participation while in residential placement at Greenville Hills Academy and are given the option to continue participation on a post-commitment status.

Recently, the focus of Youthbuild services expanded to include a provision for homes to individuals who are leaving foster care and independent living services.

DISC Village accepts donations of property, construction materials, and monetary support in providing Youthbuild services.  For more information on how you can help, click here.
