Sisters in Sobriety (SIS)

Sisters In Sobriety is a residential therapeutic community providing clinical treatment and relapse prevention services to women 18 years of age or older who may be pregnant and post-partum with a diagnosis of chemical dependency. The primary goals are to help consumers obtain the necessary tools to maintain a sober lifestyle and reintegrate into society by developing a sober peer network, housing, a work or volunteer position, or school enrollment.

 

Based on individual needs, Sisters in Sobriety offers various services such as assessment, treatment planning, case management, individual counseling, group therapy, life skills classes, and discharge planning. Nursing and Medical assistance for both mother and baby are available 24 hours a day. Other services offered:

 

• Pre-natal care
• Post-partum care
• Furnished nurseries
• Nutritional screening and counseling

 

Family participation is encouraged through provision of weekly visitation, and family group. Support services are also available and include vocational assessment, and referrals to Adult Education/GED classes and secondary education.

Salvita

Salvita is a transitional housing community program that provides women the “Continuing Care” or step down opportunity to practice the teachings, lessons, and skills learned immediately after being in a residential treatment facility program. Admission is voluntary for adult women who are age eighteen (18) and older. The average length of stay is six months. Salvita offers therapeutic clinical assessment, treatment planning, case management, individual counseling, group therapy, life skills classes, discharge planning, and relapse prevention. Support services are also offered such as assisting with job searches, vocational assessments, job and life skills training, and referral to Adult Education classes.

 

Women at Salvita are also provided with transportation services in order to be active in the community by attending work, school or substance abuse and alcohol prevention meetings. Family participation is encouraged and provided through weekly visitation, family group, and a system of passes for home visits. The “Continuing Care” phase of treatment helps clients make the transition back to living in the community and learning to use the “tools” in day to day living.
