FIT Teams are designed to provide intensive interventions targeting high-risk families with child welfare involvement due to behavioral health issues. Critical components of FIT teams are family engagement, routine screening and assessment, individualized treatment and case plans, support of parents in treatment and recovery, joint planning and case management, wrap around and comprehensive community services.
Consumers who meet eligibility requirements can be offered or referred to the FIT Team through a Child Protective Investigator, Dependency Case Manager, community based care lead agency, Family Intervention Services provider, or the dependency court system.
The primary goals of the FIT team are to provide designated services at the correct level of treatment with the necessary supports to parents and families in the child welfare system, concentrate on the family as a focus for treatment, and integrate treatment of substance abuse service, parenting interventions and coordinate all services received by the family.
