Program Description:

The BETA program is a statewide initiative of the Department of Children and Families to provide school-based substance abuse prevention services.  Services include study groups, individual and group counseling, field trips, parent support, conflict resolution, self-esteem, alcohol, tobacco and drug counseling, HIV/AIDS education and any other services participating students/families may require.  Participation is on a voluntary basis with parental permission.  Program duration is for a full school year and services are provided in compliance with the state's new initiative for scientific validation.

The BETA program is currently provided at the Wakulla Middle School in Crawfordville and in two schools in Madison County: Excel-Madison County Alternative School and Central Middle School.
